Gemini: Google's AI can access search history to respond
A new update of Gemini released this month allows the artificial intelligence to access your Google search history to provide more useful and personalized answers to the user

A new update of Gemini released this month allows the artificial intelligence to access your Google search history to provide more useful and personalized answers to the user.

To activate the feature, simply select "Personalization (Experimental)" in the model dropdown menu. This way, the AI assistant will analyze your search history to assess whether previous searches can help answer your question.

Personalization is already available for the web version of Gemini in over 40 languages and in most countries, and it will be gradually rolled out on mobile devices.

According to the company, granting access to data and search history is a user choice, not mandatory, and can be revoked at any time.

“We envision an AI assistant that truly understands you — your interests, your hobbies, your unique history — to offer a personalized experience. Now, with access to your past searches, Gemini goes beyond just providing answers; it evolves with you, effortlessly creating amazing ideas and building on previous discoveries with personalized information,” says Google’s statement.

Additionally, it is also possible to ask Gemini to remember your interests and preferences to receive more useful answers and recommendations. This feature was previously available in English for Gemini Advanced subscribers, but it has now been released for all users in over 40 languages.
